If Southern soul & rock had a baby, she’d be called Sweet Juanita. Sweet Juanita is just that: soul and rock funked up with the velvety and springy tones of Rand Anderson’s lead guitar and pedal steel and the honeyed, unadorned voice of John Bennett. Songwriting is this group’s thing but there’s no superficiality here—just organic and provocative lyrics…it’s rhythm & rhyme at its best.
